It’s always great to see celebrities give back to their communities, empowering kids to stay off the streets and giving hope to everyone to dream big. It is a little extra special, in my opinion, when this person who’s helping others is still a part of their community, and didn’t sell millions of albums or sign with an NBA team… yet NBA stars show him respect and he has had a character based off of him in an HBO movie. Earl “The Goat” Manigault, known for his street ball skills, is using the game to help prevent kids from getting into drugs.
Watch this great tribute to “The Goat”. Who is one of your favorite street ballers?
It’s round 16 of the Women’s World Cup, which is also known as the elimination round. For you non-women’s soccer fans (even though you totally should be), USA is in Group D, which was nicknamed the “Group of Death”, because of the tough competition also placed in the group (fun fact: The US Men’s National Soccer team’s group for the World Cup last summer was also nicknamed the “Group of Death”). USA have been the ones killing it so far though, and today we get to see if they will advance to the Quarter finals. They’ll have to beat Columbia – who have never made it this far in the World Cup, and are hungry to prove they have what it takes to beat the Americans.
You can catch the game tonight at 8pm ET on Fox sports 1.
Bo Porter has been fired from the Houston Astros as the team manager, and to temporarily take his place, Tom Lawless will be the interim manager.
Astros general manager, Jeff Luhnow, released a statement:
“I recognize that our win-loss record is largely a product of anorganizational strategy for which I am responsible,” Luhnow said in a statement. “Rather, I made this decision because I believe we need a new direction in our clubhouse.”
According to the Associated Press, Porter and Astros team owner, Jim Crane, were recently not getting along. There has been no comments or statements made about this though.
